Collect Stamps, Discover Parks: Kraków Launches a New Outdoor Challenge

Kraków has launched a new outdoor initiative that encourages everyone to explore the city’s parks in a new, fun way. Inspired by the popular tradition of collecting stamps on hiking trails, the Odkrywca Krakowskich Parków (Kraków Parks Explorer) project transforms urban green spaces into a city-wide adventure.

Instead of climbing mountain peaks, participants visit parks across Kraków, collecting unique commemorative stamps with designs inspired by the history, nature and distinctive character of each location. The challenge aims to motivate people to venture beyond their favourite walking routes and discover parks they may never have visited before, while gamifying the whole experience.

A Treasure Hunt Through Kraków’s Green Spaces

To take part, explorers need an official Odkrywca Krakowskich Parków booklet. Inside, there is space to collect stamps from every participating park.

Each park features a specially designed wooden stamp box containing its own individual stamp. Rather than using a standard design, every stamp reflects something unique about its location, whether that is local wildlife, historical significance or a defining landscape feature.

From historic gardens to forests, meadows, former quarries and lakeside landscapes, the challenge showcases just how diverse Kraków’s park network has become.

Collect Every Stamp and Earn an Explorer’s Badge

The goal is simple. Visit every park included in the project and collect every available stamp.

Participants who complete the challenge can earn the official Odkrywca Krakowskich Parków badge, giving walkers, families and outdoor enthusiasts an extra incentive to explore every corner of Kraków’s green spaces.

Where To Get the Booklet

Printed booklets are available from several collection points across the city, including:

  • Centrum Edukacji Ekologicznej Symbioza
  • The pavilion in the pocket park on ul. Fabryczna

To help launch the initiative, a cargo bicycle is also delivering booklets to selected parks on 23 July, stopping at:

  • Park Jordana
  • Młynówka Królewska
  • Park Kleparski
  • Planty
  • Park Bednarskiego
  • Park Kolejowy

Later in August, additional collection points will be introduced through Kraków Info locations in partnership with Kraków Tourism Alliance, with details to be announced by the organisers.

Available in Several Languages

The project has also been designed with international visitors in mind. The official booklet can be downloaded free of charge from the Zarząd Zieleni Miejskiej website in several languages, including English, Spanish and Ukrainian, making it easy for tourists and new residents to join the challenge alongside local participants.

A Community Project With an Unusual Story

One of the more distinctive features of the initiative is the handcrafted wooden stamp boxes themselves. They were produced by inmates from the Kraków Remand Centre and its Nowa Huta external unit as part of a collaborative project supporting local community initiatives.

The partnership has given participants practical involvement in creating a lasting feature of Kraków’s public parks while contributing to a project that encourages outdoor activity and environmental awareness.

A Fresh Way to Experience Kraków

Whether you are a regular park walker, a family looking for weekend activities or a visitor wanting to see another side of the city, Odkrywca Krakowskich Parków offers an enjoyable reason to explore beyond Kraków’s best-known attractions.

By combining gentle outdoor activity with the satisfaction of collecting unique stamps, the initiative turns everyday walks into an engaging city-wide challenge while highlighting the remarkable variety of Kraków’s parks and natural spaces.
