Kraków AGH Students Win International Mars Rover Competition in Türkiye

Students from AGH University of Kraków have taken first place at the Anatolian Rover Challenge 2026, beating 19 university teams from around the world.

The international competition, held in Türkiye from 29 July to 1 August, challenged teams to complete missions inspired by future exploration of Mars and the Moon. These included collecting and analysing soil samples, autonomous navigation and tasks linked to operating a future lunar base.

AGH's rover, Kalman, successfully completed every mission, working alongside teams from Rzeszów University of Technology and Yıldız Technical University during one collaborative challenge to achieve the highest possible score.

The victory is another milestone for AGH Space Systems, one of Poland's leading student engineering teams, and comes just weeks before the group competes at the European Rover Challenge in Kraków.

The result also highlights Kraków's growing reputation as a centre for science, engineering and innovation, with local students continuing to impress on the international stage.
