Airbus will open a new engineering centre in Kraków dedicated to commercial aircraft development, creating a strategic hub that will support future aircraft programmes and expand the company’s presence in Poland.
Airbus has announced plans to establish a new engineering centre in Kraków dedicated to its commercial aircraft division, marking a significant investment in Poland’s growing aerospace and technology sector. The facility will become Airbus’s only commercial aircraft engineering centre in Europe outside France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom, highlighting Kraków’s growing importance as a destination for advanced engineering and innovation.
The announcement was made during a press conference in Warsaw on 9 July and forms part of Airbus’ wider strategy to expand its operations across Poland.
A strategic engineering hub for commercial aircraft
The new Kraków centre will be responsible for the full engineering lifecycle of commercial aircraft development. Teams based in the city will work across design, engineering analysis, modelling, testing and certification, supporting both Airbus’ existing aircraft programmes and the development of future generations of passenger aircraft.
The Kraków team will become part of the global Airbus Commercial Aircraft engineering organisation, contributing directly to projects with international significance.
As the only Airbus commercial aircraft engineering centre of its kind in Europe outside the company’s four principal aerospace countries, the investment represents an important milestone for both Airbus and Poland’s aviation industry.
Recruitment already underway
Recruitment for the new engineering centre has already begun, with Airbus securing office space in Kraków and preparing the infrastructure needed for operations.
The company plans to officially open the facility during the fourth quarter of 2026.
Part of Airbus’ long-term growth in Poland
The new centre is a key element of Airbus’ long-term expansion plans in Poland. The company intends to increase its workforce in the country from around 950 employees to approximately 1,500 while raising its annual spending in Poland to 1 billion US dollars.
The Kraków engineering centre is expected to become one of the main pillars supporting that growth.
